It becomes more popular in the media’s eyes every couple of years due to musicians such as lil Wayne, Pimp C, and now Justin Bieber’s use of this drug. Stars do have a way to draw popularity to products that they use, and unfortunately that includes drugs as well.

Sizzurp is the slang name for promethazine and codeine mixed together in a fruity drink. Sometimes it comes in the form of the potent cough syrup, but this is not the only way to come about it. Promethazine and codeine also come in pill form. Users of this substance will mix this together, typically with sprite and jolly ranchers, to bring a tempting fruity flavor to the drug. In short, sizzurp is prescription drugs dressed up differently. All over the world there is an epidemic with prescription medication. Countless drug users going to doctors and faking symptoms to get drugs in order to achieve a high and get relief.

Sizzurp is deadly, just like any drug. When you take a look at what it’s main components truly consist of, mixed with its seductive flavor, you can see how dangerous this is. Codeine is an opiate. A lot of drug users will use this by its self to achieve that relief and high. It is highly addictive due to what it does to your brain chemistry and treat receptors. Mainly people get put on this for pain, and then find it very difficult to come off. Codeine is a respiratory depressant in large doses. Promethazine is typically used to treat nausea. It can cause breathing to slow or stop. This is due to it being a depressant of the central nervous system. The average user consumes 25 times the amount prescribed. Users of sizzurp not only drink it, but will also dip their marijuana into it and smoke it.

These drugs are not only dangerous on their own, but even more deadly in combination in this form. It attracts young users to try it because of its popularity, and taste. Many celebrities have been hospitalized due to the effects produced by ingesting large quantities. Sizzurp is highly addictive, and unfortunately attractive. If you know anyone who is abusing this and/or any other drug, or may have questions about a loved one, please gives us a call we would love to help support you in any way possible.
